Addictions & habits can ruin peoples lives and those of the ones they care about most. I have helped many clients using hypnotherapy, hypnosis, NLP and coaching with alcohol, gambling and drug problems, such as marijuana, as well as addictive eating or drinking habits eg chocolate or coca cola.
Alcohol - Problem Drinking, Alcoholism
Alcohol problems including binge drinking are common in New Zealand. Problem drinking can cause a wide range of effects including abusive behaviour to family and friends, the dangers of drink driving, health risks, weight, expense, and not being able to function properly at work or at home. Problems can arise from alcohol dependence as well as binge drinking. For some it is a case of just not knowing how or when to stop, for others drinking too much has become a habit. Mandy clients I work with need to learn to control their use of alcohol, others however need to quit drinking altogether.
Gambling
Gambling is often used to help to deal with stress and unwind but it doesn’t really work. Some of my clients have spent tens of thousands of dollars a year on pokies or some other form of gambling. The only people who win are those who own the machines. The only way to deal with this problem is to quit totally and stay completely free – always!
It is useful to find other ways to relax such as new activities (that ideally are not expensive!) and self hypnosis. Some clients just need to break the pattern, others need to deal with the underlying issues that led to the problem in the first place.
Drugs
For some people drug use is a nuisance – for others it can be life threatening. Marijuana for example is very commonly used and some people can take it or leave it. But some have a habit of smoking every day or even several times a day. There are other drugs that are almost guaranteed to lead to disaster eg P and heroin. Learning to change your mind about the habit and being committed to being free can make all the difference.
Chocolate, Coca Cola, Coffee Etc.
Addiction to chocolate can be expensive, unhealthy, cause weight and skin problems and be a nuisance. Clients have felt so much better giving up with addictions to chocolate, as well as coke and coffee. As one of my clients said recently "no coca cola or cola of any form has passed my lips since my 30 October 2007 session with you ..... success!"
