The Power of the Subconscious Mind
Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy and NLP are concerned with making positive changes at the subconscious level. The subconscious mind does many things - it stores all our memories, manages our emotions and controls automatic behaviours and responses. The interesting thing is that people have the resources they need to make changes in their lives and to be successful. There are no unresourceful people, only unresourceful states.
The subconscious mind is a learning device. We have been learning new skills, abilities and talents all our lives. But we are also creatures of habit and sometimes the subconscious switches into an unwanted habit such as poor sleeping patterns, smoking, anxiety or nail biting and more...
So how do we go about making change and improving the quality of our lives? How do we let go of unwanted behaviours and habits? The subconscious always has a positive intention but does not always choose the best way of achieving it. If we can show it a better way then it can change quickly. And this is where hypnosis is useful because when we are deeply relaxed it is easier to communicate with the subconscious and to help it to look after us in a more appropriate and resourceful way.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is literally ‘therapy whist in hypnosis’ ie therapy carried out when you are in a very relaxed state. Hypnosis is useful for therapy because it allows the subconscious mind to be more receptive to positive ideas, suggestions and visualisation. We can also work more directly with the underlying blocks and patterns that have been holding you back or causing problems. These are usually limiting beliefs and unresolved emotions. We can’t change the past but we can change our emotional response to it.
Hypnotherapy is fast becoming recognised as a powerful therapy method. In the UK, for example, there is now a National Health Service funded hypnotherapy centre at the University Hospital in Manchester.
NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming)
NLP is a very useful and powerful set of skills and techniques which complement hypnotherapy. It is becoming increasingly popular in many areas of life including business, education, sport, marketing, sales and health as well as therapy.
NLP is concerned with understanding more clearly the way we think and communicate so we can take more control of the way our minds work, what we experience and achieve the results that we want. It is about developing strategies to promote excellence in our lives.
Therapy
I use a range of up to date hypnotherapy and NLP techniques to help you to be more resourceful, to let go of old and ineffective behaviours and habits, and to be more the way you want to be. I also provide hypnotherapy/NLP recordings on CD. These are made during the sessions and focus specifically on what you want to achieve so that the positive ideas, suggestions we use are reinforced on a daily basis and of course you can just enjoy the relaxation.
Self Hypnosis

I teach clients instant self hypnosis and how to use positive suggestion and visualisation to continue to make and reinforce positive changes. Self hypnosis is very easy and for most people it only takes a few days to become highly skilled.
