We all go into natural hypnosis many times every day - we call it daydreaming. Any activity like driving the car or washing dishes - when we can be on autopilot and the mind wanders off to a different time and place - is natural hypnosis. For therapy we just add relaxation more...
What do we experience in hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a pleasant state of physical and mental relaxation. The inward focus of the mind increases so the subconscious mind becomes more responsive and receptive to positive suggestion, ideas and visualisation. This is the way we can make positive changes.
Are you conscious and aware in hypnosis?
Of course. You are in full control at all times in hypnosis: you can hear the hypnotherapists voice and any other sounds, and you can open your eyes and come out of hypnosis at any time. But when you are so relaxed, you'll probably just want to enjoy it for a while longer. Many of my clients are keen to learn self hypnosis so that they can take themselves into deep relaxation whenever they choose. I teach instant self hypnosis and clients generally find it is very easy.
Why use hypnosis, hypnotherapy and NLP?
Many people live normal and healthy lives and yet there may be some aspects they want to change - such as getting rid of a phobia, reducing anxiety, removing an addiction or a habit eg to quit smoking, control alcohol or stop nail biting. They may want to lose weight, improve sleep, self esteem or confidence for public speaking and more... Clients often say they have tried using will power but some changes need to take place at a subconscious level because this is where our automatic patterns, habits and responses are established.
Hypnosis, Hypnotherapy and NLP are increasingly proving to be very effective and often quick ways of making positive changes in New Zealand & around the world.
